About Me

Hi, I'm Mia. I love crafts, homeschooling and living in different countries. In Central America and Mexico it became somewhat of a challenge to make things. I learned to use articles on hand and a lot of imagination. One very big inspiration for me was when I watched a mother cleaning a chicken. As her little boy skipped by he paused and started looking at the "guts" that she had just placed in a bowl. He pulled out what looked to be the stomach. He then cleaned it up. Placing it to his mouth, he began to blow it up. It was now a balloon. His mother turned and smiled at him as he skipped off to show his prize to his friends. It was then that I challenged myself to make or create things without spending a lot of money. I enjoy using things I already have or can purchase inexpensively. You can do it too. Take the challenge.

GIANT SENSORY WATER BAG

Several people have posted this bag on line.  I decided to give it a try.  The first time I made it for my grand daughter's 7th birthday.  It didn't look like anyone would get wet so we didn't warn anyone.  We used it to go along with a giant slingshot for an Angry Bird party.
I followed the instructions just as they said.  My husband warned me that I needed stronger plastic, but I wanted to follow the instructions.
So all the pretty little girls in their birthday party outfits had a ball on the bag.  Then they discovered they could make holes in it.  As you can see we tried to repair them.  It was no use.  We let it go and then the real fun began.  Everyone was soaked.  It was a hit.

The second party I followed my husband's advice and we used a heavy plastic and had a "water park" party in the backyard.  Everyone in their swimsuits.  It took more punishment and they ended up making holes so the water would flow out.  Fun, fun, fun.  We used the same plastic to make a slip and slide on one side of the yard.  The slide had a kiddie pool at the bottom to splash in.
To make this bag purchase a heavier weight plastic and fold it over.  Then only 3 sides need to be taped with duct tape.  Leave an opening for the hose and let it fill.  Try not to fill it on a slope or the whole almost full bag will roll on you to a totally different location.  That happened to us.  When full tape off the opening and let the fun begin.
